A senator from the Five Star Movement (M5S) and a judge have been robbed by a gang of Algerian migrants at Rome’s main Termini railway station.

Senator Gabriel Lanzi and a judge of the Court of Cassation were both robbed by three Algerians, with the judge having his briefcase full of confidential documents stolen not long after he had finished eating lunch at a restaurant close by the station, Italy’s Il Giornale reports.

Shortly after the judge was robbed, the North African thugs robbed Senator Lanzi while he was trying to flag down a taxi. The gang was able to get away with his bag which contained an iPad, a laptop, and other documents.

Shortly after the robberies, two of the thieves, aged 20 and 27, were arrested, taken into police custody, and were charged with aggravated theft. Police are still looking for the third individual who was involved.

Fortunately, all of the items stolen from the judge and the senator were able to be recovered by police.

The incident follows the formation of a new coalition government between the left-wing establishment Democratic Party and the allegedly populist Five Star Movement. The new coalition has reopened the country’s ports to NGO migrant ferries, allowing 182 more North African migrants to land on their shores last week.

In recent years, the Termini railway station and the area surrounding has turned into a cesspool for illegal activity.

Last winter, two illegal migrants were arrested for beating and trying to rob a woman in her 60s near the Termini train station. The women’s arm was broken badly as a result of the attack.

A few months later, a homeless man waiting at the railway station was stabbed by a North African migrant because he was wearing a crucifix necklace.

In response to the incident, Georgia-Meloni, the head of the national populist Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, said, “If Muslims think of bringing the holy war into our house, it is time to take drastic measures: it remains only to block any kind of Islamic immigration until these ideas are clarified.”
