The UN Global Migration Pact has caused controversy throughout the world. The list of countries withdrawing and refusing to sign it is growing by the day.

It has been presented by the UN as a ‘non-binding’ agreement that every country should sign it, however, one lawyer has already pointed out that ” … while the UN migration pact is “non-binding” on countries, it does set up a “framework” which he says could be used by lawyers to interpret the meaning of laws”

As the migration pact makes migration a human right, it eliminates ‘illegal’ immigration because it is no longer something individual countries would have a right to claim, their borders are not their own in this pact.

Italy has been rumoured to be signing the migration pact. It has been said that Prime Minister Conte is planning to sign the pact in Marrakech in December.

The hope with Italians is that they won’t. It would seem to completely fly in the face of all of the campaign promises to stop illegal migration by the coalition government and what Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has already set into motion in removing illegal immigrants.

In fact, it would seem that all of that would be halted if not reversed by this migration pact. The hope is for Italy to withdraw from the disastrous Migration Pact, especially given how Italy, especially Salvini, is seen worldwide as a leader in the populist movement.

Matteo’s strength of character has made him not only a favourite within his own country, but throughout Europe and the world.

As such, their signing this pact could potentially influence other countries to sign it following Italy’s lead. There is a petition to request that Italy withdraw from the pact.

The reaction throughout Italy is clear, Italians do not want Italy to sign the UN Global Migration Pact, as the following tweets reveal.
